About SCGIS

The mission of the Society for Conservation GIS (SCGIS) is to build community, provide knowledge, and support individuals using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and science for the conservation of natural resources and cultural heritage. The SCGIS assists conservationists worldwide in using GIS through communication, networking, scholarships, and training. Membership is open to any individual seeking assistance in the achievement of personal or organizational conservation goals. The Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Click here to join.

The Society for Conservation GIS developed a Strategic Plan for 1999-2001 on November 9, 1999 by the Board of Directors of the Society. The updated plan replaces the previously adopted plan from January 22, 1999. The strategic plan is evaluated and updated on an annual basis by the Board of Directors and interested SCGIS members.

A new addition to the Strategic Plan is currently in the works.
